The legend of "Phā Chái Nī" or "The Debt Relief Cliff" is a local tale told by the villagers and fishermen in the area, who use this cliff as a reference point for navigation. The story is closely tied to a young man's journey to repay a large debt, blending elements of belief, magic, and knowledge of the natural world.
According to the legend, there was a young man who had accumulated an enormous debt and could not repay it. Seeking a solution, he went to consult his creditor and asked for an extension. The creditor, knowing well that the young man could never pay the debt, made a strange offer: if the young man dared to jump off the cliff, the creditor would forgive the entire debt.
The young man accepted the challenge and bravely jumped off the steep cliff. At that moment, a strong monsoon wind suddenly blew, carrying him safely to a bay where he landed in a cross-legged meditation pose. The villagers then named the bay "Talo Sila Bay” with "Sila" referring to the cross-legged meditation posture.
As the young man survived and was freed from his debt, the cliff came to be known as "Phā Chái Nī," which means "Debt Relief Cliff." The story has since been passed down through generations, and locals believe that anyone burdened by debt can come to this place and make a wish for their debts to be reduced or eliminated, as the legend suggests.

Carrying him to a distant bay where he belonged.
He landed safely in a meditative pose,
The bay was named "Ao Talo Sila" as the legend grows.
 
His debts were erased in the blink of an eye,
The young man survived, and his burdens said goodbye.
This became the origin of the name,
"Phā Chái Nī" – the cliff of debt’s claim.
 
Even today, people believe and pray,
Coming to this cliff for debts to be swept away.
A tradition passed down through the years,
For relief from debts, they come with hopes and cheers.
