Wang Sai Thong Waterfall is located in Nam Phut Subdistrict, Manang District, Satun Province, within the Khao Banthat Wildlife Sanctuary. It is a limestone waterfall with beautiful and unique features, where the water flows from large limestone cavities that resemble blooming lotus flowers, cascading in layers down the rock formations. The waterfall consists of six tiers, with the height of each tier ranging from 50 to 100 centimeters, and the sixth tier reaching approximately 8 meters in height. The waterfall is made even more stunning by the presence of natural stone formations and pools that collect the flowing water, creating a picturesque scene.
The origin of the waterfall's water comes from a cave beneath the mountain, where water seeps out and flows through Klong Wang Noi before passing over limestone mountains, carrying calcium carbonate and suspended sediments that create the distinctive features of each waterfall tier. The ground of the waterfall consists of a mixture of sand and limestone, making it porous and free of algae, which allows visitors to walk safely across the waterfall without slipping. The clear water and relatively shallow pools make it an ideal spot for people, especially children, to play and enjoy the natural environment.
The surrounding area of the waterfall is shaded by large trees, offering a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Visitors can also enjoy activities like rafting, which is available throughout the year. The rafting trail is about 9 kilometers long and takes approximately two hours to complete, with travelers able to experience the refreshing and lush environment along the way.
Wang Sai Thong Waterfall is also home to the Mani ethnic group, known locally as the Orang Asli or "forest people," who live in the area and maintain a traditional lifestyle, largely unchanged from the past. Although these people are not often seen, as they prefer a secluded life deep within the forest, visitors may occasionally have the chance to encounter them.
